The family hutch at right had the typical dark shaded lacquer finish popular in the late 1960s - early 70s. The client asked that we lighten up and modernize the unit to show more of the (mainly oak) woodgrain. During the work we decided to raise the hutch section and create a countertop as well as modernize the cupboard fronts.
