Floor Refinishing

The international popularity of Whistler has resulted in a destination spot that never closes. Consequently, finished wood flooring receives maximum abuse and stress. Sea To Sky Finishes can renew these floors during off hours and apply a tough multi-layered poly finish.
The images presented are of one of the most stressed floors in the Village. Buffalo Bill's Bar hasn't closed a day for 10 years. The floor being refinished is the original.

As you can see, this floor has been stressed to the maximum thinkable. Nightly subjected to alcohol, cigarette burns, ground glass and ski-boots, the refinishing poses a challenge. Also posing a problem is the fact that the ballroom floor is in use every night un till 2:00 AM and any work on it takes place after then.

As you can see (click on the picture to "zoom" in), the ball room floor is completely renewed without loosing it's character and much reduced wood thickness. Six coats of the most durable floor coating known will keep the floor protected for many months of continual use.

Included in Sea To Sky's Floor Refinishing Program is a complete sanding of the old finish to fresh wood, filling of the entire floor so that no cracks are visible, any repair work required, a finer sanding of the filled surface, a complete staining to bring out the warmth of the wood grain and finally several coats of a tough satin finish.
